A new exhibition for a new thematic axis: border and enclave
“Borders. Cut Line” is an exhibition curated by Fina Duran and Jordi Tolosa. It was shown between 2021 and 2022 at the Escorxador venue in Figueres, produced by the Museu de l’Empordà and Figueres City Council, with works by Mireia Sallarés, Núria Güell, Félix Blume, Marco Noris, Joan Fontcuberta, Marina Nuñez, Alba Sotorra and Susoespai.
In 2024 it travels to the Museu de Llívia, a border site because it is the only political enclave on the French-Spanish border, created after the Treaty of the Pyrenees in 1659. The museum is developing a thematic axis around border and enclave, both through a long-term exhibition (Fita 0, border, enclave and memory) and through its programme of visits, talks and exhibitions.
The exhibition
“Borders. Cut Line” proposes a broad reading of the concept of border. It invites us to ask who draws those divisions and to question the borders we assume and tolerate: political, physical and personal. The exhibition moves through the museum foyer and galleries in dialogue with the permanent collection.
