Marco Noris with Museu de Camins in the book “La fórmula Mutare: Cómo la cultura transforma” by Fundació Carulla

Yesterday the book “La fórmula Mutare” by Fundació Carulla was presented, and I had the pleasure of contributing an unpublished work about the Museu de Camins in the Siarb Valley (Pallars Sobirà). Museu de Camins is a network of old Pyrenean paths that have been maintained and recovered, a project that seeks to connect, articulate and share the historical, natural and cultural legacy of the Siarb Valley. It is a powerful project in a beautiful place, one that deserves to be experienced and walked.
The work, made specifically for the book and previously unpublished, is a cartography of the Siarb Valley in which the history of local family lineages, the valley’s geographical and human place names, and the main connections between villages come together, visualising the museum’s network as a living constellation. The constellation is an image I find particularly fitting for representing the human and geographical relationships among old Pyrenean villages. One of the protagonists of the work for “Mutare” is Lluïsa, who married Pau from Casa Joanxic and left Vilamur to live in Envall, where I am now in the process of building a new constellation.
“La fórmula Mutare: Cómo la cultura transforma” is a collection of cultural proposals from around the world that reveals methodologies, tendencies, actions and resources applicable to any cultural project that seeks to become a driver of social change.
The book is an impeccable, content-rich object made with great care. Congratulations to the foundation, Museu de Camins, Aura and the design team at Mucho, Mario Hinojos and the Transit team, and above all thanks to Tomás Guido for his coordination and care throughout the whole process.
