«Here is paradise»

And yesterday we entered channel 34, shifting dimension in the quantum space of maps. It’s the thirteenth day of the Grand Tour 2020.

We’re in the Pallars Sobirà, further north of La Pobla de Segur. The paths are now waymarked; you can feel the change of territory, for the mountain draws another kind of walker. The group keeps changing, growing little by little. Yesterday we crossed the Serra de Perecalç, passing through a fold in reality. In the village we met Pedro, a being who, like a tree or a church, connects heaven and earth: «here is paradise», he said when he saw us. Pedro of ancient eyes, who mends the bell tower of the ruined church and who pointed us to the gates of paradise.

And so it was, a descent into paradise, along a fairy-tale path through the Obaga de Canals. The path is especially beautiful and the forest a magical place. Today the group is different; the walking changes and opens to the connection with the whole. We shared food with a young black cat –perhaps a witch’s helper or a guardian of the forest–, who shows us the way, running alongside us for a stretch. The sun shines, spreading its rays among the branches of lo Bosquàs beside the Font de Reguerot, and a fairy in the shape of a butterfly dances around Imma, thanking her for her offering. Far off, among the forest fronds, the hermitage of Santa Anna — on our personal map, the house of the witch of Cortscastell.
