A Gothic hall, a Baroque altarpiece, a pre-Christian symbol, a toponymic litany, walking and painting… The Sequere exhibition at the Institut d’Estudis Ilerdencs is an experience outside time, prehistoric and post-historic at once, speaking the sacred language of the earth, the future language of the ancestors. Smithson was convinced that the future is lost somewhere in the non-historic past. So am I.
