15.05.2021 — On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Centre d’Art i Natura of Farrera, on Sunday 2 May the installation «La pell de la terra» opened in the hermitage of Santa Maria de la Serra.

I am thrilled to offer a new altarpiece to this place, which I fell in love with a little over two years ago during my residency at the CAN. In the bare sobriety of the hermitage, a powerful dialogue is activated between the place and the work, lit exclusively by the natural light that enters from the east through the small windows of the apse.

«La pell de la terra» was born in the mountains as a tribute to walking and to the earth, and in this small mountain hermitage it finds its place as a post-historical altarpiece dedicated to an inclusive, universal and non-denominational sacredness.

There is a very special moment after dawn, when the first morning sun peeks out from behind the mountain —these days, right behind the Pic de Màniga— and casts its first ray through the apse window of the Farrera hermitage: in the silence broken only by the symphonic singing of the birds, we witness the constant unfolding of life tinging the central panel of the altarpiece with light.
