Ephemeral Informalism @ Can Felipa

Comunitats artístiques del Poblenou

On 6 September, Can Felipa opens the group show devoted to the various artistic communities of Poblenou. My photographic project, Informalismo efímero, is one of the three selected to represent La Escocesa, the creation centre where I have my studio.

In the access corridor to La Escocesa, among rubble and graffiti, there is a fountain where some artists clean their brushes and tools. Right in front of the fountain, around the drain, lies the waterlogged square metre where I have been capturing my informalisms.

Since May 2010 I have made this puddle my canvas — an ephemeral, ever-changing canvas — portraying impermanence and paying tribute to the place that, over the past eight years, has been witness and host to my artistic and human growth: La Escocesa. The photographs, taken and edited on an iPhone, are published on the web in real time, thus fixing the moment: the flow of the liquids and the mixing of the ink following the air currents, the here and now.

The project won La Escocesa’s 2012 production grant - www.laescocesa.org.
