Re-lligar

With the participation of Lluisa Gadea and Salvador Clarós, this coming Sunday 19 November, 1 to 3 pm, as the closing of re-lligar, I will be at La Escocesa for a talk among attendees about the Poblenou of yesterday, today and tomorrow.

In 2006, from La Escocesa we took to the streets to support the neighbourhood movement against evictions and speculation, and the residents backed the struggle of the factory’s artists. It was a mutual discovery. I remember a neighbour who one day told me: «now we support you, and surely, when we need it, you will be the ones to help us». She was referring to the square of the Sagrat Cor church, which in February 2006 hosted the first crowded meeting between residents and artists. The square was affected by the 22@ urban plan but today it still exists as «Plaça artística L’Escocesa».

Re-lligar

On 18 and 19 November, La Escocesa organises re-lligar, a free public event aimed especially at the neighbouring communities of the Poblenou district, which will host workshops, actions, performances and art installations. These activities will take place inside and on the outer façade of La Escocesa, in the square of the Sagrat Cor church and in the adjoining building where the Fundació Pere Tarrés carries out its work.

The event is open both to the art-going public and to the district’s residents, to families who use the Fundació Pere Tarrés and to girls, boys and young people connected to the Esplai. On Saturday 18 there will be a community meal among everyone attending the event.

Coordinated by Juan Francisco Segura and Juan Antonio Cerezuela.
