At 7.15 pm, after the guided visit, I will join the debate after the screening, talking about water and memory and building a bridge with my project «Sequere». (Link to the project here: Marco Noris, visual artist - Sequere (La Entrega, act II))

The film is wonderful: don’t miss the chance to see it on the big screen.

An essay on memory, a political and poetic gaze that insists on the need for transmission and on the stubborn struggle against amnesia. With that needle Guzmán threads together two stories, two exterminations: that of the native peoples and that of the political prisoners of the dictatorship in Chile. Rewriting the history of Chile, this documentary persists and insists on new inscriptions and records about the memory of all peoples.

Here there are thousands of fjords and ice waterfalls. Here are the voices of the indigenous peoples of Patagonia, of the first English navigators and also of the political prisoners of the Pinochet dictatorship. Some say that water has memory. This film clearly shows that it also has a voice: a metaphorical voice through which Guzmán tells the country’s most recent history: «I like to work with metaphor to move the documentary away from more traditional media and because it is a narrative tool of enormous richness that prompts reflection» (Patricio Guzmán).
