In December 2023, I had a residency at Campo Garzón to prepare a site-specific installation for the ArtFest 2023 in the town of Garzón, Uruguay.
Transmutation, in general terms, implies changing or transforming one thing into another and is applied in various contexts such as alchemy, nuclear physics, and spirituality. It refers to a fundamental change that can affect the very essence of a thing or being, at a physical, chemical, or spiritual level.
The pictorial process of transmutation began using the waters of the Garzón stream to capture snapshots of the territory on paper and canvas, representing the earth through the action of water and natural processes such as wind, sun, and rain. The pictorial creation has developed accompanying and intervening in natural processes in a constant and patient game of chaos and control, control and chaos.
Part of the 30 square meters of paintings I created during my residency culminated in a site-specific installation in a tapera (abandoned farmhouse) in the town of Garzón during ArtFest 23: a deconstructed landscape in which I represented the territory through a combination of painting and objects (natural or artificial) typical of the Uruguayan countryside.
The TRANSMUTATIONS project was carried out in residence at Campo Garzón with the support of Goetstouwers+Limentani Fellowship and the Istituto Italiano di Cultura of Uruguay in Montevideo.

En el mes de diciembre 2023 tuvo lugar mi residencia en Campo Garzón (Uruguay) para preparar una instalación site-specific para el ArtFest 2023 en el pueblo Garzón, Uruguay.
La transmutación, en términos generales, implica cambiar o transformar una cosa en otra y se aplica en diversos contextos como la alquimia, la física nuclear y la espiritualidad. Se refiere a un cambio fundamental y que puede afectar a la esencia misma de una cosa o de un ser, a nivel físico, químico o espiritual.
El proceso pictórico de transmutación empezó usando las aguas del arroyo Garzón para plasmar en papel y lienzo unas instantáneas del territorio, representando la tierra a través de la acción del agua y de los procesos naturales como el viento, el sol y la lluvia. La creación pictórica se ha desarrollado acompañando e interviniendo los procesos naturales en un constante y paciente juego de caos y control, control y caos.
Parte de los 30m2 de pinturas que realicé en residencia, ha culminado en una instalación site-specific en una tapera del pueblo Garzón durante el ArtFest 23: un paisaje deconstruido en el cual he representado el territorio a través de la combinación de pintura y objetos (naturales o artificiales) típico del campo uruguayo.
El proyecto TRANSMUTACIONES ha sido realizado en residencia Campo Garzóncon el apoyo de Goetstouwers+Limentani Fellowship y el Istituto Italiano di Cultura de Uruguay en Montevideo.
